Netflix's 'Power Rangers' special

Trailer for Netflix’s ‘Power Rangers’ special that reunites several of the series’ main characters.

Netflix reopens the nostalgia trunk and shouts loudly that phrase that a whole generation of us shouted a thousand times in the schoolyard: “Let’s metamorphose! The streaming platform will premiere in April ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always’, the official reunion of the mythical ‘Power Rangers’ that swept the 90s.

Netflix's 'Power Rangers' special

This special will feature Walter Emanuel Jones (Zack, the Black Ranger), David Yost (Billy, the Blue Ranger), Catherine Sutherland (Kat, the second Red Ranger), Steve Cardenas (Rocky, the second Red Ranger), Karan Ashley (Aisha, the second Yellow Ranger) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Adam, the second Black Ranger). We already have the first trailer and, thanks to EW, a series of photos from the special.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary these Rangers are getting back together to, according to the official description, “confront a familiar threat from the past”. If you’re thinking of the wonderful Rita Repulsa, Barbara Goodson, voice of the character in the series (they used images of Machiko Soga until the second season, when Carla Perez came in to play the role), is also part of the special, as is Richard Horvitz, voice of Alpha 5.

The most notable absences are Austin St. John, the original Red Ranger, and Amy Jo Johnson, the first Pink Ranger. Nor will we see Jason David Frank, the Green Ranger, who passed away last December, or Thuy Trang, who played Trini, the Yellow Ranger, and who died in 2001 in a traffic accident. But he will be represented through his daughter, who will be played by Charlie Kersh.
