'Avatar': Vin Diesel

‘Avatar’: Vin Diesel will not participate in any of the films in the saga, despite rumors

It’s been almost four years since Vin Diesel posted a video on his Instagram page with James Cameron on the set of ‘Avatar’, which seemed to guarantee that he would be a member of Pandora’s family. Although we haven’t seen him in ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’, it could well be that his role is in the following continuations, but Empire denies the rumors: Diesel has not and will not participate in the ‘Avatar’ franchise, much to his regret.

The producer of the ‘Avatar’ saga, Jon Landau, who is also behind ‘Titanic’ and ‘Alita: Combat Angel’, explains the confusion: “Vin was a fan”. And, like any fan who can afford it, “he visited the set one day to see what we were doing and people took it out of context.”

However, those who saw the video can’t be blamed too much for misinterpreting the actor’s words, as Diesel almost seemed to assure that he would be one of the new additions to the Cameron-led cast. “There’s one person in Hollywood that I’ve always wanted to work with and always wanted to learn from,” he says, referring to the saga’s director. “It all comes to those who wait, I guess.” In addition, the ‘Fast & Furious’ star wrote in the video’s description, “And the journey continues,” along with hashtags of thanks.

Will they work on another project?

In an interview for MTV News, Vin Diesel was asked by a reporter if the rumors were true. Diesel cautiously replied, “I’ve spent time with him [James Cameron], but I haven’t shot anything yet.” At this last word, the journalist asks him if he is indeed going to participate in the sequels of ‘Avatar’. After much pondering, Diesel says: “I love James Cameron and I love the saga. And I think it’s safe to say we’re going to work together.” This seems to leave the door open that he will indeed be part of a project of the acclaimed director, although considering that Cameron is focused on the ‘Avatar’ saga, it seems that we will not see the paths of these two professionals cross in the near future. On the other hand, the tenth installment of ‘Fast & Furious’ premieres on May 19, while its official trailer will be released on February 10.
